Two-Vehicle Crash in Tyler County Kills Two
Two persons lost their lives in a two-vehicle crash in Tyler County on Tuesday, January 11. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) identified both victims of the crash.
According to the details shared by the DPS, the crash happened at around 9:30 p.m. A vehicle was traveling northbound on US 69 when its driver appears to have lost control for some reason. DPS identified the vehicle as a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck. As the vehicle was traveling north of the Hardin-Tyler County line, its driver left its lane and veered into the path of the oncoming traffic in the southbound lane.
As the pickup truck went into the southbound lane, it came directly into the path of a southbound vehicle. This was a 2013 Dodge passenger car. The Dodge collided head-on with the wrong-way Chevrolet truck.
The driver of the Chevrolet was identified by the DPS as Jonathan Collins, 29, of Warren. Collins sustained critical injuries in the crash. Once the first responders and paramedics reached the site, attempts to revive him failed. He was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace, James Moore.
The Dodge driver was identified as Ramanda Parker, 49, of Village Miles, Texas. Parker was severely injured in the head-on collision. Justice James Moore also pronounced Parker dead on the scene of the crash.
The cause of death for both victims was cited as blunt force trauma injuries from the accident. It isn’t clear precisely what caused the Chevrolet driver to veer away from his lane and come into the southbound lane. Authorities have not ruled out speeding or alcohol as contributing factors. It is also unclear whether any other occupants were present in either of the vehicles. The two-vehicle crash in Tyler County remains under investigation.
