Two Killed in Highway 24 Motorcycle Crash in Colorado
Two persons lost their lives in an unfortunate accident that occurred on the Highway 24 in Colorado. The incident occurred on Monday, August 17.
According to the details shared by the Colorado State Patrol, the accident took place close to Divide between the mile marker 277 and the Robinhood Drive. It involved a total of 5 vehicles. The crash came about when the driver of a motorcycle traveling on Highway 24 somehow lost balance. This caused the motorcycle to crash into a Toyota FJ cruiser.
Following this initial collision, the motorcycle came into the path of a Dodge Ram truck and was hit a second time. The truck driver then veered away and collided with another Dodge Ram truck. A fifth vehicle was affected by the debris from the accident but was not directly involved.
The motorcycle had two people on it at the time of the crash. Both were ejected from the motorcycle and sustained critical injuries. By the time the paramedics and first responders arrived on the scene of the accident, both individuals had died of their injuries. They were pronounced dead on the scene of the crash.
The other vehicles involved in the crash sustained some damage. However, all the occupants of the other vehicles remained largely safe from any injuries.
CSD was notified about the incident at about 2 p.m. Once the law enforcement personnel reached the site, the highway was closed to traffic. This was done so that on-site investigations and cleanup could be conducted. The road remained closed for several hours and was reopened only at about 6:30 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation. Preliminary investigations by CSD show that alcohol and speed were not contributing factors. CSD is also yet to release the identities of the two victims who were traveling on the motorcycle.
