Motorcycle Accident on Highway 83 Kills One

A man lost his life in a motorcycle accident that took place on Highway 83 in the El Paso County of Colorado. The fatal incident took place on Saturday, June 13, and was reported to the authorities in the afternoon.

According to the details shared by the Colorado State Patrol, The accident occurred less than a mile north of the Shoup Road. A 2018 Harley Davidson was traveling southbound on Highway 83 when the driver appeared to have lost control of the vehicle. This happened as the driver was attempting to negotiate a curve to the left. For some reason, the driver failed to follow the curve. The motorcycle ran off the roadway towards the right side at a high speed.

As the motorcycle left the roadway, it went down the roadside embankment. During this, the motorcycle also rolled over several times. As the motorcycle rolled over, the driver was thrown from the motorcycle. Both came to rest at the bottom of the embankment.

Once the incident was reported and first responders arrived on the scene of the incident, the driver was rushed to a local hospital. However, he couldn’t recover from his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Authorities identified the deceased as Christopher Hennessy, 52, from Colorado Springs. No other vehicles or persons were involved in the crash that resulted in the death of Hennessy.

Colorado State Patrol continues to investigate the incident. At this point, the focus of the investigations is to understand how the incident took place. Preliminary investigations show that Hennessy was not wearing a safety helmet at the time of the incident which contributed to the severity of his injuries. For now, CSP has not ruled out the usual causes such as speeding or driving under the influence. However, a more concrete cause will be known once the investigations conclude.
