Plaintiff Wins Personal Injury Trial in Hardin County

September 16, 2009 – Beaumont, TX

National law firm, Brent Coon & Associates, received a positive jury verdict in a suit against Progressive Insurance. The suit was on behalf of Karen Kiesling who was injured in a car accident. Just two days after receiving plastic surgery, Ms. Kiesling was rear-ended while pulling into her driveway. The accident caused severe soreness and scarring. Controversial Legal PR Site Remains a Beacon of Information

October 7, 2009 – Beaumont, TX - On September 23rd, OSHA issued a report noting that the British Petroleum plant in Texas City had failed to meet the safety requirements listed in the 2005 settlement agreement after the plant explosion. As members of the media scrambled to get the story, a website hosted by Brent Coon & Associates, the law firm that represented a number of the victims, became the go-to source of information for over a hundred journalists from around the globe. BCA SETTLES ASBESTOS CASE – NOT RUN OF THE MILL

San Francisco, California - August 27, 2009

Brent Coon & Associates has reached a settlement with three separate manufacturing companies in a lawsuit involving asbestos exposure. General Dynamics, DAP and The Allis Chalmers Corporation Products Liability Trust were the last three remaining defendants in an asbestos case that started with 14 separate defendants. Ted Fox, a Navy veteran, was diagnosed with mesothelioma, a rare form of lung cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. The allegations against General Dynamics included that Mr. Fox was exposed to asbestos contained in marine electrical motors manufactured by General Dynamics’ Electro Dynamic division. Read more...

Hornbeck, LA – May 11, 2009 - Two Hornbeck High School Seniors were awarded with the James and Linda Rowe Memorial Scholarship at the Hornbeck High School Graduation Ceremony on Saturday. The scholarship, which is awarded to Hornbeck High students each year, is paid out of a fund set up by British Petroleum to memorialize James and Linda Rowe, two BP employees and Hornbeck natives who were killed in the tragic plant explosion in Texas City in March of 2005. BCA Calls for Legislation, Inspections to Prevent Hep-C Outbreaks

The announcement came as a direct response to the outbreak of Hepatitis-C cases at the Murfreesboro, TN VA Hospital and the recent admission by VA officials in Miami that, by not sanitizing colonoscopy equipment, the contamination has caused wide-spread alarm for thousands of veterans.

Whistleblower Sues County Over Wrongful Termination

Calhoun County – February 6, 2008 – Rodney Guice, an employee of Calhoun County, believed in good faith that he had noticed some unscrupulous behavior on the part of his co-workers. Guice did the right thing. He reported his observations to both County Commissioner Precinct 4 Kenneth Finster and County Judge Michael Pfeifer. Guice reported events that he believed raised serious questions about the theft of diesel fuel and county tools, the destruction of county property in order to justify purchasing newer replacements, and the use of county dollars to purchase unnecessary equipment for personal use. While Mr. Guice believed he was doing the right thing, his superiors didn’t see it that way. He was terminated from his job on October 24, 2008 indisputably as a result of his report. Read more...

Brent Coon & Associates Reaches $1.8 Million Settlement in Brain Damage Case

Killeen, TX – January 15, 2009 – The National Law of Firm Brent Coon & Associates reached a $1.8 million settlement agreement on behalf of Mary Avery-Hill. In June of 2005, Mrs. Avery-Hill was traveling along Highway 190 in Killeen with her daughter when the wheel of a trailer suddenly detached from the axle and struck her vehicle.
