History
The founding member of the firm, Brent W. Coon, grew up in Southeast Texas.
He graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor of Science degree in just two years while working a full time job, making the Dean's list and the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society in the process. A Doctor of Jurisprudence followed from the University of Houston Law Center, where Brent also graduated from a full curriculum in less than two years, all the while being active in various mock trial and moot court teams.
He began his law career in 1986 as an attorney and later partner and senior partner with an established litigation firm in Southeast Texas. Excelling in trial litigation, Brent became board certified and later re-certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Personal Injury Trial Law and by the National Board of Trial Advocacy in Civil Trial Law. He has remained active in various trial organizations, including Board of Directors, Legislative Task Force, Sustaining Member and Fellow with the Texas Trial Lawyers Association; Executive Committee member and past president of the Southeast Texas Trial Lawyers Association; Law Firm Fellow, Leader's Forum and Labor Liaison Committee member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America; and nominating committee and former committee chairman, as well as Outstanding Young Lawyer, of the Jefferson County Young Lawyer's Association. He has also been admitted to the Texas Bar Foundation, an elite academy of noted attorneys whose members gain entrance by limited invitation only.
In 2001, Brent undertook the development of a new firm, specifically crafted to handling complex litigation. With anchoring offices in Beaumont and Houston, Texas, and Jackson, Mississippi, and associated counsel in numerous other states, Brent has created the epitome of the 21 st century law firm. Drawing from young talent throughout the region, the firm is now comprised of aggressive litigators, almost all with solid experience in handling complex multi-party cases, with and emphasis on occupational/environmental law and personal injury practice.
